Packing a diaper bag can be confusing and chaotic, especially when you are rushing to head out. Furthermore, with the sheer amount of things that your little one needs, you may often find yourself forgetting to pack some things in – maybe it’s wet wipes, a changing pad, or even diapers! Regardless, we have compiled a list of our top Diaper Bag Essentials to ensure a fun & exciting day out with your family – worries begone!
1. DIAPERS AND WIPES
We’re starting off with a diaper bag’s most essential item on this list – diapers! When having a day out with your baby, a good estimate is to pack as many diapers as hours you expect to be gone, with maybe one or two extra, just in case. With most babies, you might make a diaper change every two hours or so, which leaves you with plenty of spares for unexpected accidents! As for wipes, they are a must-need in every diaper bag. You can use them to clean bums, spills, puke, changing pads…you name it, they clean it.

4. WET BAG
This is another item you can’t do without, especially if you are using reusable cloth diapers for your bundle of joy! To be fairly honest, any empty bag at home would do if you’re in a rush to head out! For example, plastic bags, ziploc bags (these are better at sealing the smell away) etc.
Consider getting a wet bag to easily organize soiled cloth diapers, clothes, or burp cloths if you constantly see a need to put away soiled cloth diapers and clothes or burp cloths.
5. BABY CREAM
Even though your baby’s skin isn’t currently irritated, it is a common problem. Especially in Singapore’s hot humid weather. It’s always better to be over prepared with a small tube of diaper cream on hand along with a small shaker of baby powder!
We recommend Gaia’s skin soothing cream as it can be applied to the face, body, and nappy area! They are to soothe and protect your little one’s skin, which greatly reduces discomfort from having dry, rough, and flaky skin patches! Additionally, it provides a calming and soothing effect on skins affected by eczema or irritations. It also doubles as a great hand cream for busy mums.
6. FOOD FOR BABY
This next item on the list goes without saying – food!
For formula feeding, make sure that you pack enough to last throughout the day. You can pre-fill a couple baby bottles or use a formula dispenser to ensure you have enough formula on the go.
If you’re breastfeeding, you’ll have less to pack! However, make sure to pack spare breast pads and ointment for yourself.
If you pump, pack bottles with milk ready to go. Make sure you include an ice pack and use a pocket that’s insulated. We recommend this Fridge-To-Go cooler bag as it is highly durable, space-saving and works just as well as a regular fridge.
If your child is older, then you’ll need to pack baby food and any snacks for munching throughout the day. Other necessities you’ll want to include are a baby spoon, a sippy cup, and maybe even a juice pouch or water bottle.

10. HAND SANITISER

Though, this does not mean that hand sanitiser is enough! Always remember to wash your hands afterwards – as soon as you have the means to.
